You Can't Beat a Book

Much of the current Sherlockian excitement is being generated by movies and TV shows. As I noted on a Bouchercon panel recently, they are also bringing readers back to the source material. New generations are discovering the Canon, which is glorious.

Personally, I prefer books. I enjoy "BBC Sherlock," but I don't have the passion for it that some enthusiasts do. I save that for the printed word.

Some time ago I introduced our grandchildren to Disney's The Great Mouse Detective. I know of at least one Baker Street Babe who swoons at the mere mention of the title. It is, indeed, a wonderful movie. But I think the kids are about ready for the books.
