After a long period of inactivity, Baker Street Irregular uber-historian Jon Lellenberg, BSI, has announced the revival of his BSI Archvial History website. There's also a related blog which I hope will get more active as well. Beneath the name of the blog appear the memorable phrase "Disputation, Confrontation, and Dialectical Hullabaloo."
The phrase also appears at the head of the "Disputations" section on the website. Mr. Lellenberg explains:
"Those felicitous words were how Old Irregular Robert G. Harris (“The Creeping Man,” BSI) described the spirit of the BSI’s annual dinners at the Murray Hill Hotel and Cavanagh’s in the 1930s through the 1960s, before growing numbers brought it to an end by forcing the annual dinner to move to many round tables (instead of close proximity as shown in the 1947 photograph on the website’s The BSI page), in huge banquet rooms in overplush hotels and clubs, ever since. To keep the spirit alive, we have this department for occasional items of Irregular controversy."If you haven't yet read Mr. Lellenberg's wonderful novel about early days of Christopher Morley's BSI, Baker Street Irregular, what are you waiting for?
